Numbers 2

Chapter 2 simply consists of laying out the placement of the tents in the camp. What we see here is an illustration of what we often hear, that of God being a God of order. Notice that as you read this passage the tents were to be set up in a certain way, facing a certain direction, under the family flag. Each family was placed on a specific side of the tent of meetings.

Application
Even the minor things as setting up camp God is concerned about. What seems random, is not, what seems happen chance is not. God is a God of order. He is not surprised about what happens in life. There is order and direction. The other thing we see here is that if God is interested in the placement of tents don’t you think that he is just a little interested in the things of your life and wants to bring order and direction to you. Will you listen to what he is saying to bring that order to your life?

Raven Genesis 8:7 I have three different Bible studies that I lead each week.  What I have enjoyed most about these Bible studies is being challenged by the participants to dig deeper.  Being a third generation minister and having been saved since I was five there is much that I simply take for granted.  The Bible said it that settles it.  There are other things I don't always see as significant as others.  So as we are going through the studies the participants point out things that I have not really considered.    In one of the studies we were reading in Genesis chapter 8 concerning when Noah released the birds to see how far the flood waters had gone down.  The first bird he released was the raven.  I was asked why did he release the raven first?  I will admit it never occurred to me to ask that question in my life.  I did not have an immediate answer.  I did a quick search but the quick answer I found was not satisfactory t...

Numbers 9

In chapter 9 there are two sections, one dealing with the Passover the other dealing with the Israelites movement through the desert. In the first section dealing with the Passover we see nothing significant spiritually that we have not talked about when dealing with the Passover before.   What is significant is the fact that the Israelites are now entering their second year since leaving Egypt.   The first Passover was celebrated the night they left Egypt.   We see in chapter 9 that God has come to Moses and reminded him that the Passover was to be celebrated yearly at the same time.   So we see the Israelites are instructed to celebrate the Passover. There are two significant added rules to the Passover.   1. Those who are considered unclean or who are traveling can celebrate the Passover in the second month instead of the first month.   2.   Those that refuse to celebrate the Passover but are not considered unclean are to be excluded from the peo...
